Couple/Relationship Counselling

Issues addressed in couples, relationship or marriage counselling typically deal with a loss of connection and intimacy, sharing responsibilities, problems in communication and resolving conflicts, different ethnic backgrounds and values, or moving beyond past hurts and infidelity. Maintaining a healthy, trustful and happy relationship may become a challenge in the context of today's busy life style. Unresolved tensions and conflicts often lead to further distancing and deterioration in the relationship. Furthermore, within a family, children are often affected by the disharmony in their parent's relationship. Couple counselling can provide a safe place to address your concerns with each other and help you to become a happier couple, and, ultimately a happier family. Fortunately, more and more people are no longer feeling ashamed or reluctant to get professional help. The earlier a couple seeks guidance and assistance in resolving their issues, the more likely it is that constructive solutions are attainable and further damage to the relationship can be prevented.
I will not provide counselling to couples when there is abuse going on in the relationship. Research has demonstrated that couple counselling is ineffective and even potentially dangerous in these situations. Issues related to spousal abuse need to be addressed separately first, and only if both partners feel safe in a relationship couple counselling is advised.
