EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is a very unique and fascinating therapeutic approach. It was developed by Dr. Francine Shapiro and is acknowledged by the American Psychiatric Association. Originally mainly and very successfully used for symptoms related to post-traumatic stress, it is now being used in many other areas. The specialty of EMDR is that it incorporates aspects of a variety of different therapeutic approaches, e.g. psycho-dynamic, cognitive-behavioural and body-focused techniques, and by doing so, utilizes the benefits and overcomes the limitations of each of these approaches.
