Philosophy
My approach to counselling is rooted in a holistic perspective which incorporates emotional, mental, physical and social aspects of people's lives. I truly believe that everybody has the resources and capabilities to overcome whatever obstacles one may face to lead a more fulfilling and satisfying life. While I don't see my role as someone giving you advice and "fix" your problems, I am there to collaboratively explore the underlying causes for your struggles, to discover your strengths and to support you in utilizing them while working towards your goals. I draw from a variety of models and approaches in my work, ranging from psycho-dynamic, systemic and cognitive-behavioural approaches. I also incorporate body-focused and mindfulness-based techniques in my work. Whichever approach I might use, it is paramount for the therapeutic process that you feel comfortable and safe, so you determine what you would like to address, how deeply you want to explore an issue and how slowly or quickly you want to work towards your goals.
